Life Story / Obituary
John Rammelt, age 92, passed away peacefully at Aurora Medical Center on December 24, 2024, one day before his 93rd birthday. Jack was born in Racine, Christmas Day 1931, son of the late Lyle and Blanche (Nee: Spang) Rammelt.
Jack was a proud graduate of St. Catherine’s High School “Class of 1949.” He also studied at Quincy College in Quincy, Illinois. Jack was a U.S. Navy veteran and was united in marriage to the love of his life, Patricia “Pat” Lesneski, on September 15, 1956. Jack and Pat were both lifelong members of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and were happily married for 66 years. Jack and Pat were able to live together at Harvest Home until Pat’s passing on February 4, 2023.
Jack was a successful business owner for many years with his late brother, Kenny Rammelt. Over his lifetime, Jack enjoyed traveling and sports, especially his Packers and Brewers. Above all, however, Jack loved spending time with his family. Jack’s family would like to extend a special thank you to Jack’s friends and caregivers at Harvest Home, especially Elaine, Shawn, Stevie, Lily, Omarie, Carol and Cindy for their love, care and companionship towards Jack during his two years there.
Jack will be dearly missed by his daughters, Sue (Steve) Botzau, Cindy (Rick) Simonovich; his grandchildren, Steven Botzau, Andy (Missy) Botzau, Jackie (Justan) Lemke, John (Amy) Simonovich, Jordan (Shannon) Simonovich, Jacob (Taylor) Simonovich, James (Gianna) Simonovich; and his great grandchildren, Stephanie, Mason, Rylee, Anthony, Elinor, Estelle, Henry, Charlie, William, John Edward, Caden and Cameron. Jack will also be missed by many other family members and friends including Tommy and Dawn Rammelt, Jimmy Rammelt, Taylor and Zach Rammelt, Joe and Rosie Romano, Dave Nelson and Dolores Rodriquez, Pete Nelson and Mike Phegley. In addition to his parent’s and wife, Jack was preceded in death by his brother Kenny and his sisters Shirley and Mary.
A Memorial Mass celebrating Jack’s life here on earth and now in heaven will be held on Friday, January 3, 2025, at 11:00 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 2201 Northwestern Ave with Rev. Michael Petersen officiating. There will be no formal Visitation, but people are encouraged to greet the family before and after the Mass. Memorials to Sacred Heart Catholic Church have been suggested. Although Jack’s Family grieves with his passing, they rejoice that he is in Heaven and that they will see him again.
