Life Story / Obituary
John Peter Grycowski, age 63, of Racine, Wisconsin, passed away on December 17, 2025, at Aurora Hospital.
John was born on February 5, 1962, in Racine, Wisconsin. He was preceded in death by his mother, Eva Rawley (née Chiappetta); his biological father, Leonard Grycowski; and his stepfather, Robert Rawley.
John is survived by his beloved wife, Sarah Grycowski (née Zukowski); his children, Alex Grycowski (Daena) and Amy Grycowski (KJ Banse); his cherished grandchildren, Norah Grycowski (4) and Layla Grycowski (2); and his stepbrothers, Tod Rawley, Scott Rawley, and James Rawley.
John dedicated more than 30 years of his life to serving the community as a social worker with Racine County Human Services.
Family was at the center of John’s life. He treasured time spent with his loved ones and took great pride in being a husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed gathering with family, cheering on his favorite teams as an avid Milwaukee Brewers and Green Bay Packers fan, and sharing meals he loved to cook. He also found joy in gardening and the simple moments spent together. John was a member of Roma Lodge and St. John Nepomuk Parish.
A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating John’s life will be held at 11:30 am, Monday, December 29, 2025, at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church, 1903 Green St. with Rev. Craig Richter officiating. Entombment will follow at Calvary Garden Crypts. Relatives and friends are welcome to meet with the family for Visitation on Monday at 10:00 am, A Roma Loge Service will be held at 11:00 am and the Mass will begin at 11:30 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor’s choosing.
John will be remembered for his deep love for his family, his kindness, and his lifelong commitment to serving others. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
