Life Story / Obituary

Print

It is with great sadness that the family of Joseph Majowski announces his passing on February 13 after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 74 years old.

Joe was the son of the late Walter and Steffie Majowski of Chicopee, MA. He graduated from Westfield State College in Massachusetts and later received his master’s degree from UW-Milwaukee. After graduating from college, he volunteered in the VISTA program for one year. It left a lasting impact on his life. Following his year in VISTA he moved to Wisconsin and became a teacher at St. Joseph School in Racine. A few years later Joe became a principal and held that position at several local parochial schools. He retired after more than 40 years of dedicated work in education. Joe then turned his attention to volunteering at St. Monica’s, participating in Racine Catholic Men’s Bible Study of Sacred Heart, focusing on his hobby of photography, and coaching his favorite teams from the couch.

Joe leaves behind his wife of 43 years Marylou, daughter Ellen Majowski, son and daughter-in-law Kevin and Chelsie Majowski and sister and brother-in-law Theresa and Jeff Blewitt. We will forever carry memories of Joe in our hearts.

A memorial service celebrating Joe’s life will be held on Sunday, March 2 at Maresh Meredith & Acklam Funeral Home, 803 Main Street, Racine, WI 53403. Relatives and friends are welcome to meet with the family at 12:00PM. Service to follow at 2:00PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Hospice Alliance and St. Monica’s Senior Living have been suggested by the family. The family would like to extend a very special thank you to Dr. Mullane and the staff at Aurora Cancer Care and the staff at Hospice Alliance.
