JOSEPHINE MARIE CHIAPPETTA

APRIL 29, 1930 - SEPTEMBER 2, 2021

Josephine Marie Chiappetta, 91, a lifetime resident of Racine, WI passed away from natural causes on Thursday, September 2, 2021, at Ascension All Saints Hospital. She was surrounded by her loving family.

Josephine (“Dolly”, “Jo”, ‘Josie”) was born at home on April 29, 1930 in Racine, WI to Rosario and Maria (nee: Imbrogno) DeRose, the 5th oldest of 8 children. She was a proud graduate of William Horlick High School “Class of 1948”. Josephine met the man of her dreams, William Chiappetta, at a dance in Racine and they married in 1955. They were the love of each other’s lives and were married for 66 years. After high school, she worked for Wisconsin Electric for 12 years and then retired from Kohl’s department store after 28 years.

A lifetime member of Victoria Colonna Lodge, Josephine enjoyed playing golf, dancing, Bocce, and spending time with her family. Her proudest achievement was raising her 3 children.

Josephine will always be remembered as a dedicated and loving mother and grandmother. She was constantly more concerned about others’ well-being over her own. She was generous, supportive, thoughtful, patient, giving, kind, loyal, and fun with a wonderful sense of humor. She was blessed with 7 beautiful grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren who brought so much love and joy to her life.

She is survived and will be dearly missed by her loving husband William Chiappetta; her 3 children, Laura Chiappetta (Lainee Uberti) of Los Angeles, CA, Diana Graves (Robert) of Covina, CA, and William Chiappetta (Michelle) of Arvada, CO; her 7 grandchildren, Grace Chiappetta-Uberti, Maggie Chiappetta-Uberti, Brayden Chiappetta, Bailey Chiappetta, Olivia Graves, Dominic Graves and Briana Wittmann; her 3 great-grandchildren, Ellis, Brooklyn and Lula; her sister, Mary Jane Pillizzi; her brother, Roger DeRose (Georganne); and her 5 nieces and 7 nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters, Jenny Venturini (Ray), Frances Scott (Dave) and Olivia Lipari (Tony); her brothers, Richard DeRose (Virginia) and Peter DeRose; and her brother-in-law Muzzy Pillizzi.

Visitation will be held at Maresh-Meredith & Acklam Funeral Home in Racine on Thursday, September 16th from 4:00 – 7:00PM. (Vittoria Colonna Service at 6:00 p.m.) Josephine’s funeral service will be held at 11:30AM on Friday, September 17th at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Racine, of which she was a lifetime member. There will be no viewing at the church. Interment will be at the Holy Cross Cemetery in Racine, WI.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial gifts to be sent to Maresh-Meredith Funeral Home c/o Bill Chiappetta, 803 Main St. Racine, WI. 53403
