Life Story / Obituary
Karon Ann Murphy, age 82, passed away Saturday, January 10, 2026, at Aurora Medical Center Mount Pleasant. She was born in Mondovi, WI, June 8, 1943, the 10th of 14 children of the late Laverne and Regina (Nee: Moyer) Hollister.
On September 15, 1962, at St. Rose Catholic Church in Racine, she was united in marriage to George R. Murphy, and they were blessed with 3 children, Allan, Steven and Kimberly. Sadly George passed away April 5, 2008 and Kimberly on October 2, 1998. Karon retired from Farm and Fleet where she had worked for 16 years in customer service. She was a devout Christian and a member of Faith Lutheran Church. Karon enjoyed bowling with friends, gardening, cooking and canning. She will be remembered for her outgoing personality and for always putting others before herself. Above all she treasured the time spent caring for her family. Family was her passion. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who will be dearly missed.
Surviving are her sons, Allan (Sandy) Murphy, Steven (Vicki) Murphy; grandchildren, Heather, Dustin, Shawn, Brandon, Tyler; great grandchildren, Autumn, Christopher, Jeremiah, Nate, Summer and Sam; siblings, Merlin (Sarah) Hollister, Lavina (the late Ray) Johnson, Evie (the late Ed) Brantner, Betty (the late Larry) Bird, Duane (the late Rose) Hollister, Sharon (Charlie) Bauer, Sandy (Tom) Lalumondier; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. In addition to her parents, husband and daughter, she was preceded in death by siblings, Phyllis (Bob) Pullman, Helen Hollister, Kenny (Arlene) Hollister.
Funeral services will be held at the Maresh-Meredith and Acklam Funeral Home, 803 Main St, Friday, January 30, 2026, 11 am. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet prior to the service 10-11 am.
The family wishes to extend a very special thank you to the Faith Lutheran Church family for their loving and compassionate support given to Karon these past years.
