Life Story / Obituary

Kathleen Walsh was the best mom and grandma in the whole world. I am so grateful to have called her mine. She was never afraid to give you her opinion or thoughts but she always listened. Some people might say she was stubborn and I would not disagree but in there was so much incredible strength, purpose, value, and love. She was the strongest person I have ever known. I suppose raising a child as a single mom in the 1970’s will do that to you. Regardless, growing up I never felt lacking in anything, especially love. I learned happiness isn’t in the things you have. You can have all the things in the world and still be miserable. In that sense she has taught one more lesson in death, that memories are more precious than gold. Thankfully there are many great ones to look back on. She treasured her time with her granddaughter, was a regular at her sporting events, and hung out with her almost weekly. They both shared a soft spot for Tiramisu cake from Pick and Save (highly recommended) and loved to bake together. It is clear that my mom’s friends remember her with love, laughter, and some crazy stories. Her brother will miss her deeply along with their regular talks about life, about history, and just everyday happenings. As for myself, Rodney, and Riley, we will navigate this world without her forever thankful for the love, support, and kindness she has given. Love you mom.

Kathleen Walsh was preceded in death by her father Thomas Walsh; her mother Virginia Walsh; her sister-in-law Gretchen Walsh; and a few furry family members (hug Sam for me mom). Survived by brother, Daniel Walsh; daughter, Margaret (Rodney Kastler) Walsh; granddaughter, Riley Kastler; and a few other furry family members.

Services are pending. In lieu of flowers, memorials to PBS (Public Broadcasting Service), or WWF (World Wildlife Fund) have been suggested.
