Kenneth Allan Kusters, age 88, passed away Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at Aurora Medical Center, Mount Pleasant. He was born in Racine, February 21, 1936, son of the late Albert and Esther (Nee: Nelson) Kusters.

Ken graduated from St. Catherine’s High School “Class of 1954”. He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1955 – 1957 stationed in Germany. On August 17, 1957, at St. Edward’s Catholic Church, he was united in marriage to Veronica M. Govaerts who passed away September 8, 2018, after 61 beautiful years. Ken was employed by Western Publishing Co for 41 years retiring in 1996. He was a member of St. Sebatian Catholic Church, the American Legion, the Lions Club and the Moose Lodge. Ken enjoyed golfing, traveling across the country in his mobile home, internationally to Japan, Germany and England. Most of all he treasured time spent with his family especially time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren going to their activities. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who will be dearly missed.

Surviving are his children; Steven (Marilyn) Kusters, Michael (Judy) Kusters, Gregory Kusters, Sandra (Michael) Sax ; grandchildren, Alexander (Kathryn) Kusters, Andrew Kusters (Bryon Krueger), Adream Kusters, Benjamin (Catherine) Kusters, Jacob (Katie) Kusters, Brett (Emily) Kusters, Bradley Kusters, Nathan (Rachel) Sax, Courtney Sax; great grandchildren, Kellan, Cora, Blair, Beau, Amelia, Samuel, Wallace, and Lincoln Kusters, John, Nina, and Lincoln Sax; sisters, Marjorie Sorenson, Cheryl (Mel) Wifler; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by daughter-in-law, Karen Kusters; in-laws, David Sorenson, Joan (Allen) Jensen.

Funeral services will be held at the funeral home Thursday, September 5, 2024, 4:30 pm with Reverend Juan Camacho officiating. Relatives and friends may meet prior to the service 2:30 – 4:30 pm. Private interment with full military honors will be held at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Town of Dover. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Veterans Outreach of Wisconsin have been suggested.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to ER and ICU Staffs at Aurora Mount Pleasant Medical Center , especially Valerie, his ICU nurse for her compassion and humor that allowed Ken to be himself and to ease his passing; to Shannon and Josie his VA nurse and Physician’s Assistant -we truly believe dad’s life was extended due to their care and love; and to the staff at Killarney Court Senior Living, for all the love and compassion and kindness given to Ken – we could not have chosen a better place for our dad to live.
