Life Story / Obituary

Kenneth Gerald Killberg, 77, passed away peacefully in his home on August 23, 2026, with his wife, Lynda, by his side. Born in Racine on October 16, 1948, Ken was the son of the late Kenneth and Maxine (McCormick) Killberg. He graduated from Washington Park High School, Class of 1966, and earned a degree in Political Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1970.

Ken spent most of his career with the family business, Security Insurers, which he owned and operated for more than 25 years.

On September 21, 1982, he met Lynda Krueger who he joined in marriage on Sept 21, 1984. This September 21st would have marked their 44th year together.

Ken was a lifelong boater and member of Harbor Lite Yacht Club. He and Lynda cruised Lake Michigan extensively. He was previously active in the Tuesday Optimist Club and was key in the creation of Salmon-A-Rama, which became a beloved Racine tradition. He also enjoyed downhill skiing, travel, cooking (especially soups), theater (including a stint as Packy the elephant at RTG!), cheering on the UW Badgers and Green Bay Packers, studying WWII history and politics.

Above all, Ken cherished time with his family. He especially loved gathering with his children and grandchildren, whose lives brought him endless pride and joy. He will be deeply missed.

Ken is survived by his wife, Lynda; his children, Benjamin (Jendi) Killberg of Lewisville, Texas, and Katherine Killberg and Stephen Rahaim of Takoma Park, Maryland; his grandchildren, Gabriel and Wyatt Killberg, and Evan and Lucas Rahaim; his sisters-in-law, Teresa Mullenberg and Sandalee Racile; as well as other relatives and dear friends.

Funeral services will be held at Maresh-Meredith & Acklam Funeral Home, 803 Main St., on Monday, September 21, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. Family and friends may gather from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. A reception will follow. Private interment will be held at West Lawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions to Vanguard Prep https://vanguardprepschool.com/, Great Lakes Alliance https://greatlakes.org/ or Racine Theatre Guild https://racinetheatre.org/ are appreciated.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the hospice staff from Compassus.
