Kenneth Robert Simonsen, age 76, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at Froedtert Hospital in Kenosha, WI. Ken was born in Racine, Wisconsin on May 13, 1948, to Robert Simonsen and Clara (Kline) Simonsen. Ken had two sisters Karen (Schnetz) and Debra (Elfstrom). Ken graduated from Horlick High School in Racine in 1966. He worked at various jobs in his life but found steady employment at Ruud Lighting out of Sturtevant and before making his mark as a magician where he performed throughout the Mid-west.

On February 17, 1973, Ken married Lucy (Kuchinski) from Racine, Wi and were married 38 years before her death in November 2010. Lucy performed as “Mystery the Clown”, in addition to being Ken’s assistant performing magic with their company Simonsen & Company.

Ken loved performing magic for anyone but was particularly excited to bring a smile to children with his shows. Together with Lucy they performed and entertained throughout the area and were well known within the magic Community. Ken’s other passions were fishing and model railroading. Ken and Lucy would often set up their trains for displays at banks or businesses during the holidays. Ken was also an active member of the Western Union Junction Railroad Club and Museum in Sturtevant, Wisconsin. Through this club they restored an old Milwaukee Road Caboose in Sturtevant, which you can visit today with displays inside.

Ken was preceded in death by his wife Lucy, father Robert, mother Clara, and sisters Karen and Debra.

Survivors include Karen’s children, Robby, Randall and DeAnne, as well as Debra’s children Candace, Morgan and Set, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
