Leslie Albert Lakatos, age 87, passed away Tuesday, February 8, 2022, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Racine, January 21, 1935, son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Nee:Laczko) Lakatos.

Les graduated from St. Catherine’s High School “Class of 1953”. He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1956. On October 26, 1971, he was united in marriage to Lilian G. Petersen. Les was employed by J.I. Case Co for 36 years, retiring in 1996. He was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. He enjoyed spending time outdoors planting trees and doing chores around the yard and spending time with family. He also enjoyed hobbies like model trains and cars and cherished the company of many pets throughout his life. Above all he was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who will be dearly missed.

Surviving are his wife, Lilian Lakatos; sons, Erick Lakatos of Kenosha, Kurt Lakatos of Burlington; granddaughters, Maggie and Mia; his sister, Elizabeth Carter of Racine; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and dear friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Joseph (Anna Mae) and Louis.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 6400 Spring St., Friday, February 25, 2022, 11 am with Fr. Yamid Blanco officiating. Entombment with full military honors will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy 32. Relatives and friends may meet prior to the Mass from 10 am until the time of the mass. Memorials to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital have been suggested.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the doctors and staff at Ascension All Saints Hospital and the staff at Aurora Health At Home for the care and compassion shown to Les.
