Life Story / Obituary
Linda E. Thomas, age 81, passed away at St. Catherine Commons Memory Care, in Kenosha, Wisconsin, on Wednesday November 27, 2024. She was born in Racine on July 8, 1943, daughter of the late John and Dorothy (Nee: Acklam) Grant.
On January 20, 1962, Linda was united in marriage to James Thomas who preceded her in death on December 24, 2015. Linda will be forever remembered for her love of sewing and cooking, but she was possibly most renowned for her extraordinary desserts which were a staple at Marcia’s Gourmet House for many years. Most recently, she spent her time hand-making dolls and dresses for impoverished African children. Above all it was time that she spent with her family that she cherished most. Upon her husband’s retirement, they purchased a farm in Wautoma and turned it into their dream home through each other’s combined creativity and years of hard work.
She was loved dearly and will be sadly missed by her children, Greg (Jill) Thomas, Elizabeth (Mark) Schall; grandchildren, Jake (Allison) Thomas, Bryan Thomas, Arik Schall, Alec Schall; brother, Jay (Carol) Grant; great grandchildren, Leo, Josie, Luca, and Rose; sister-in-law Judy Benner; nieces and nephews, other relatives and a large group of dear friends who were as close as family. Linda was also preceded in death by her brother Robert Grant.
Private Services were held. Memorials to Dolls for Africa (https://www.dollsforafrica.org/) have been suggested by the family.
A very special thank you to the staff at St. Catherine Commons Memory Care and Hospice Alliance for their loving and compassionate care.
