With her family by her side, Linda Rae Dykstra, age 77, passed away peacefully Monday morning August 19, 2024 at her residence. Linda was born in Racine on May 1, 1947, daughter of the late Raymond and Alma (nee: Dean) Fisher.

Linda was a proud graduate of Washington Park High School “Class of 1965”. On April 22, 1967, Linda was united in marriage to Todd A. Dykstra at St. Rita Catholic Church. They raised two children, Jana and Steve, and shared fifty-seven wonderful years together. Linda enjoyed her early working years as a secretary for Walker Manufacturing. In 1976, she and Todd, in partnership with Todd’s brother, established Dykstra Brothers Excavating. Linda worked with her husband and remained committed daily to the operation of their family business until her retirement in 2020. In her spare time, she enjoyed time with friends bowling, taking trips to Las Vegas, playing cards and laughing. Since she was young, Linda always had a love for the water. She fondly recalled her summers playing cards with friends at the 15th Street Beach on Lake Michigan. Once she was married and had a family, she enjoyed spending time with family and very special friends boating and waterskiing on Brown’s Lake, Wilson Lake and Lilly Lake. More recently Linda enjoyed taking a drive just to see Lake Michigan every chance she got. Whether it was a traveling or a shopping adventure, watching the kids play a sport or just talking, it was her time spent with her family, especially her cherished grandchildren, that brought her the most joy.

Linda will be dearly missed by her husband, Todd; children, Jana (Brad) Williams, Steven (Jackie) Dykstra; grandchildren, Taylor Williams (fiancé, Carter Lowman), Chase (Hannah) Williams, Jacob and Mark Dykstra; sister-in-law, Gayle Freudenwald; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by her brother, Robert; step-father, William Konnak, brothers-in-law, John “Donny” Dykstra, Lowell Dykstra, Marlan “Mike” Dykstra; and sister-in-law, Darlene Egtvedt.

A private family time of remembrance will be held at a later date. Memorials to Alzheimer’s Association have been suggested.

The family extends a special thank you to the staff at Brightstar Care for their loving and compassionate care.
