Lorraine A. Miller, age 85, passed away Friday, November 6, 2015 at Oakridge Care Center. Lorraine was born in Bolton, England on July 17, 1930, daughter of the late Lawrence and Beatrice (nee: Higson) Roberts.

During the Korean War, she met the love of her life, Jerome E. Miller, and they were married in England on September 1, 1951 and moved to the United States a couple of years later. They were married for thirty eight years before Jerry passed away on January 30, 1990. Lorraine was instrumental in starting the first Headstart Program in Racine, and as a reading specialist teacher, she loved her many years teaching at Gilmore. She later taught at Mojave Valley Middle School in Bullhead City, AZ and lastly at Horlick High School. Following her retirement in 1995, Lorraine continued her love for teaching at the Racine Correctional Institute. She was a member and Sunday school teacher at Emmaus Lutheran Church. In her spare time, Lorraine enjoyed flower gardening, reading and her time spent with her friends in the English Club. Above all it was her time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren that gave her the most joy. Lorraine will be remembered fondly for her beautiful smile, her English accent, her love for singing and dancing, and her great spirit.

Lorraine will be dearly missed by her children, Jerry (Kathryn) Miller, Peter Miller, Lorraine Barth, Diane (David) Fiebig, John Miller; grandchildren, Shane (Susie) Lorenzini ( kids, Elyse, Gina, Bella, and Sophia), Lori Beth (Dale) Ibarra (kids, Isabelle and a son to be born in February), Stephanie Miller ( kids, Lexi, Ethan, Ella and Addie), Jenni Koll (Aaron Wingate), Jessica Fiebig (fiancé, Tom Sawatski) (kids, Emily and Olivia), Allison (Norman) Jackson (kids, Ian and Lillianna), John, Jamie, Sarah and Stephanie Miller; special Nana to Abbey and Sammi; special nieces and nephews, Iris (Jim) Spieker (kids, Thomas, Julia, Kimberley); many other special nieces and nephews, special great nieces and great nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, Lorraine was also preceded in death by her son-in-law, Gary Barth, grandson, Matthew Fiebig, and sisters, Iris (Fred) Stephens and Maureen Agerholm.

Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday November 11, 2015, 6:00 p.m., with Rev. Mary Janz officiating. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. until time of service at 6:00 p.m. Memorials to the Alzheimer’s Foundation have been suggested.

The family extends a special thank you to the staff at Oakridge Care Center for their loving and compassionate care.
