In Loving Memory of Mardell F. Ferg

Mardell F. Ferg passed away at Elizabeth Gardens on March 25, 2026, with family by her side. Mardell was born on September 15, 1939, to Herbert and Loretta Waters (nee: Sherman).

Mardell graduated high school at St Catherine’s in Racine in 1957. On June 22, 1957, she married Ronald H. Ferg at St. Rose Catholic Church. She joined St Edward’s Church in 1962 and remained a pivotal member in the parish community until her death. After their youngest child was in school full time, Mardell joined the hot lunch program at St Edward’s elementary school working as a lunch lady for 38 years until she retired in 2010. She loved to take every opportunity she had to be with family and friends. She enjoyed reading, puzzles, Scrabble, Yahtzee, card games, and crafts. Mardell was a cook and baker at heart. She shared her favorite foods at bake sales, potlucks, parties, and family gatherings. A few of her favorites were deviled eggs, eight-layer Jello, pumpkin roll, and lemon meringue pie.

Mardell will be lovingly missed by her son, Ron (Julie) Ferg of Racine, their children, Daniel (Samantha), Adam (Lauren) and Jonathan (Katie) Ferg; and their grandchildren, Jack, Brooklyn, Myles, Mary-Jean, Stanlee, Benjamin, Carter and Timothy Ferg; daughters Cathy “Fergi” Ferg of Lily Lake and Cindi (Kevin) Bohn of Racine; their children, TJ (Megan) Jensen and Stephany Jensen; and their grandchildren, Levi and Brianna Jensen and Joey Garcia; brothers, Ken and Dan (Sue) Waters; brothers-in-law, Dennis (Marilyn) Ferg, Philip and Donald (Linda) Taskonis, along with multiple godchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends, some of whom have become like family over the years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald, daughter, Colleen Ferg and great-grandchild, Zachary Jensen; brother, Herb (Carol) Waters and sisters, Beverly (John) Pucek, and Rosetta (Joe) Cooley.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on April 17, 2026, at 11:30 am at St Edward’s Church, 1401 Grove Ave, Racine, WI. Visitation will be at the church from 9:30 to 11:30 am. prior to mass. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy 32.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Colleen J. Ferg Scholarship Fund at UW-Eau Claire Foundation,127 Roosevelt Avenue, P.O. Box 1208, Eau Claire, WI 54702-1208 are suggested.
