With his wife Carol and sister Jane by his side, Mark Raymond Dorf, age 72, passed away September 14, 2022 at Froedtert Memorial Hospital following complications with his heart. Mark was born in Racine on March 11, 1950, son of the late Raymond and Helen (nee: Kremis) Dorf.
He graduated from St. Catherine’s High School “Class of 1968” and then attained a degree in Mechanical Engineering from UW-Stout. On July 29, 1995, Mark married the love of his life, Carol Horton, who he had been dating for the previous fifteen years. Since he was six years old, Mark was involved in his family business, O’Neil Leather Specialties and was last employed there as president. Always very civic minded, Mark served on various boards helping to serve his community. A strong supporter of small business, he would help mentor and advise new and upcoming businesses. Mark will be remembered for his love of sports, especially the Packers and Badgers, but he will be best remembered for his generosity, kindness, steady pace and his great love and devotion to his family.
Mark will be dearly missed by his loving wife, Carol; his siblings, Jane Dorf, Thomas Dorf (Mija), Daniel (Cindy) Dorf, Timothy Dorf. Christopher Dorf (Theresa); brother-in-law, Jerry Horton; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. In addition to his parents, Mark was also preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Valerie Dorf.
Per Mark’s wishes, a private family celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
The family extends a special thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff at Froedtert Memorial Hospital for their loving and compassionate care.
