Marshall "Billy" Hicks

Marshall Jerome “Billy” Hicks departed this life on Saturday June 26, 2021, at the age of 59. He was born on January 6, 1962, son of Louis Barbee and Lucy (nee: Hicks) Curtis.

“Billy” as he was affectionately known was educated in the Racine Unified School District and graduated from JI Case High School “Class of 1980”. He played on their basketball team, a sport he loved, and made the epic game winning shot versus cross town rival Park High School his junior year. At an early age, Billy accepted Christ. He loved foreign cars, was an avid Los Angeles Lakers fan and had a passion for music, especially smooth jazz. Most of all, Billy loved spending time with his family and friends.

Billy will be dearly missed by his loving mother, Lucy (Willie) Curtis; sons, Carl Bunch, Billy “Videl” (Shawanda) Willis, Jerome Meeks; daughters, De’lgee Hicks, Dominique Meeks,; brothers, Derrick (Angie) Hicks, Corey Curtis and Christopher Curtis; sister, Dania Curtis; six grandchildren, Aiyonta Willis, Carli Bunch, Breion Willis, Shamar Willis, Avionn Willis and Zy’la Willis; nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends. Billy was preceded in death by his father, Louis Barbee; his grandparents; his brother, Gregory Curtis; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, July 3, 2021, from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m., with a service celebrating Billy’s life to start at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Buddy Vinson officiating. Interment will follow at Graceland Cemetery.
