Mary Ann Mico, age 92, passed away Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at Ascension All Saints Hospital. She was born in Newberry, MI, November 6, 1931, daughter of the late Eino and Helga (Nee: Hakala) Pelkie.

She was raised in Seney, MI and graduated from Newberry High School “Class of 1949”. She moved to Racine in 1951. On July 3, 1954, in Waukegan, she was united in marriage to Louis L. Mico. They celebrated 53 years before Louis preceded her in death November 29, 2007. Mary was employed as a bookkeeper at Western Publishing Co for 7 years and then as a caterer for the YWCA for 20 years. She was a longtime member of Epiphany Lutheran Church, now Water of Life Lutheran Church and the Church Home Guild. Mary enjoyed Bingo, crossword puzzles, shopping with her daughter and until 2008 bicycling. Above all she treasured time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed.

Surviving are her children, Jeff Mico, Wendy Mico, Kevin Mico (Chris Willis); grandchildren, Jacob Mico, Jena Mico; her sister, Sally (David) Morrison; other relatives and dear friends.

Funeral services will be held at the funeral home, Monday, July 15, 2024, 11 am with Reverend Nathan Klusmeyer officiating. Relatives and friends may meet prior to the service 10-11 am. Private interment will be held at West Lawn Memorial Park. Memorials to Water of Life Lutheran Church or one’s favorite charity have been suggested.
