Life Story / Obituary

Mary Grande, age 94, passed away Sunday, November 16,2025 in Glen Ellyn, IL. Mary was born in Milwaukee, WI, daughter of the late Hilbert and Blanche Brunow.

On March 1, 1952, Mary was united in marriage to Arthur Grande. They raised two daughters, Debbie and Lori, and shared sixty-two beautiful years together before Arthur passed away in 2017. Mary was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and enjoyed singing in the choir until 2019, when she moved to Glen Ellyn, Illinois. There she joined Peace Lutheran Church and attended with her daughter’s family.

Mary is now reunited with Art and Debbie in heaven, and will be dearly missed by her daughter, Lori (Don) Brown; her 4 grandchildren, Michelle (Bill) Schommer, James Smith, Karl (Kristel) Brown, Rachel (Thomas) Driver; and her 7 great-grandchildren, Megan, Julia, Ethan, Elise, Renay, Thomas Jr. and Taylor. She will also be missed by many other relatives and dear friends.

In addition to being a wife and mother, Mary found time to work outside the home as a keypunch operator and in a real estate office.

Mary also enjoyed spending her days sewing, quilting, traveling, finding the best garage sales, being at the cottage, gardening, and caring for her violets. She loved hosting family and friends, and was known for offering food as soon as you walked through her door. Meals were provided only as an excuse for having her delicious desserts! For Mary, food equals love!

Mary’s love for life and those around her will be dearly missed; the mark she has left in the world is immeasurable. Special thanks to Maple Glen Memory Care and St. Croix Hospice for their loving and attentive care throughout her final moments here on Earth.

The family wishes to meet with relatives and friends for visitation at 11:00 am, and a celebration of life service at 11:30 am on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at Wisconsin Memorial Park, Chapel of the Flowers, 13235 West Capitol Drive, Brookfield, WI. In lieu of flowers, memorials or donations to the Dementia Society of America have been suggested.
