Mary E. Morrone

Mary E. Morrone (nee: Meyers), age 79, passed away peacefully at her home in Leesburg, FL surrounded by family on August 22, 2024.

Mary was born on April 9, 1945, in Racine, WI to the late Gerald P. and Bessie (Tipps) Meyers. She attended St. Catherine’s High School. She furthered her education at Gateway Technical College and graduated as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Mary had a 30-year nursing career at St. Mary’s and St. Luke’s Hospitals in Racine and Kenosha Hospital and Medical Center in Kenosha. Mary was united in marriage to Robert G. Morrone at St. Mary’s Lutheran Church on October 23rd, 1999. They shared the past 25 years of retirement together.

She enjoyed family vacations, camping, gardening, watching the Green Bay Packers and taking care of her beloved cats and dogs over the years. Mary also loved her special relationship with her two daughters-in-law who kept her updated on family news and brought her great comfort when she was battling cancer.

Mary will be sadly missed by her husband, Robert Morrone, sons Michael (Kathy) Wurster, John (Jackie) Wurster, step-son Michael Morrone, sister Debbie (Mike) Ackerman, grandchildren Anthony (Jackie) Wurster, Ryan (Mallory) Wurster, Nicole Wurster, Cameryn Wurster, Macy Morrone and Chloe Morrone, great grandchildren Hayes Wurster, Graham Wurster, Sadie Wurster, nieces, nephews and many friends including Patti and Eric Cohen of Leesburg, FL who became instant friends the moment they met over twenty years ago and maintained a special bond until Mary’s passing.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her youngest son, David Wurster, brother Gerald Meyers Jr, sister Patricia Schowalter, brother-in-law Donald Schowalter and nephew Mark Schowalter.

A small private funeral service and interment will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery in Racine where Mary will be laid to rest with her son David who preceded her in death 38 years ago.
