Mary Gouris

Mary Gouris, age 91, passed away Friday, June 12, 2015, at Primrose Retirement Community in Mount Pleasant, WI. She was born in Racine, October 28, 1923, daughter of the late Hercules and Panagiota (Nee: Marcopoulos) Gliatas.

Mary graduated from Washington Park High School. She was united in marriage to John Efthemios Gouris on April 19, 1953, at the Kimissis Tis Theotokou Greek Orthodox Church, where she had been a lifelong member. Most of all Mary cherished time spent with her husband, children, and grandchildren.

Mary will be dearly missed by her husband, John, of sixty-two years. She was the loving mother of Steven (Sharon) Gouris of Gurnee, IL, Ann (Brian) Larson of Mission Viejo, CA, Peter (Susan) Gouris of New Hope, PA, Thomas (Allison) Gouris of Austin, TX; Yiayia to her beloved thirteen grandchildren: Sarah, Mary Lynn, and Jonathan Gouris; Matthew Larson, Kailey (Aaron) Santos, Bethany (Christopher) Berg; Patricia, Mary Frances, Jacklyn, and Erin Gouris; Aimee, Jade, and Nicholas Gouris; brother and sister-in-law, Themy (Midge) Gliatas of Westerville, OH, sister-in-law, Katina (Tasso) Kalliris of Kansas City, MO, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many dear friends. In addition to her parents she also was preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law, John (Minnie) Gliatas; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Georgia (John) Skinos, Mary (Mike) Lambros, and Peter Gouras.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2015, 9:30 A.M. at the Kimissis Tis Theotokou Greek Orthodox Church, 1335 S. Green Bay Rd., with Fr. John Ketchum officiating. Interment will follow at Graceland Cemetery. Relatives and friends are welcome to meet with the family on Friday, June 19, 2015, at the funeral home from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. (Trisagion Prayer Service to be held at 7:00 P.M.). In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Kimissis Tis Theotokou Greek Orthodox Church have been suggested.
