Mary L. Gray, age 79, passed away Thursday, February 6, 2014 at her residence. Mary was born in Yazoo City Mississippi, March 14, 1934, daughter of the late Austin and Sally (Nee: Brown) Booker.

On July 25, 1985 she was united in marriage to Henry L. Gray who preceded her in death, April 25, 1995. Mary was employed for many years as a nurses aide, retiring from Society Assets in 1995. She took great pride in her yard where her gardens flourished. Above all she cherished time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. She will be deeply missed.

Survivors include her son, Michael (Beth) Davis; son-in-law, Roosevelt Jackson; daughter-in-law, Brenda Mitchell-Fortune; 7 grandchildren; Reginald (Jamie) Mitchell, Kimberly (Kevin) LeBleu, Sharon Davis, Susie Davis, Christopher (Amber) Davis Sr., Christina Davis and Nicole Davis; special great granddaughter, Chala Davis-Bell; many great-grandchildren; many great-great grandchildren; brothers and sisters, C.B. (Percy) Booker, Charlie Lee Garrett, John and Lula Garrett, Lou Dora Garrett, Ethel Garrett , Frank Garrett, Johnnie Rae Ward; host of other relatives and dear friends. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her son, Floyd Mitchell and daughter, Mary Jackson and great grandson, Kendall “Alex”.

Funeral services will be held Friday, February 14, 2014, 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home with Bishop John Williams officiating. Interment will follow at Graceland Cemetery. Relatives and friends are welcome to meet with the family for visitation on Friday, at 9:30 until time of service.
