Michael John Asselin, age 74, passed away unexpectedly Friday, February 2, 2024, at Ascension All Saints Hospital. He was born in Brooks, MN, February 24, 1949, the 7th of 10 children of the late Harvey and Madonna (Nee: Lussier) Asselin.

Mike graduated from South Milwaukee High School “Class of 1968”. He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1969-1971 stationed in Germany. On April 17, 1971, he was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Barbara Anne Swirkowski. Mike was employed at Appleton Electric for 35 years. At the age of 50 he went back to school at MATC and became a Journeyman Machine Repairman. He retired from Prairie management in 2014. He loved the outdoors fishing, hunting, camping, and traveling both in a motor home and by motorcycle. The garage was his fortress of solitude where he could enjoy a beer, build something from wood, or watch Grit TV westerns. Mike will be remembered as someone who was good with his hands and being able to fix anything and create just about anything with wood. Above all he treasured time with his family especially his grandchildren. Mike was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather who will be dearly missed.

Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Barbara; 2 children, John (Angie) Asselin, Jennifer Fossell; 5 grandchildren, Dustin (Emily) Fossell, Andrew and Jessica Fossell, Nicholas Asselin, Alexander Stettler; a great grandson, Ivar Fossell; siblings, Annette (Don) LaCoursiere, Richard Asselin, Mark (Jean) Asselin, Barbara Asselin, Bonnie Szubielski; other relatives and dear friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by siblings, Victor “Pete” (Karen) Asselin, Veronica (Thomas) O’Keefe, Audrey (Dennis) Lessard, and Ronald Asselin.

A memorial service will be held at the funeral home, Tuesday, February 13, 2024, 11 am. Relatives and friends may meet prior to the service 10-11 am.
