Michael Allen Verheyen “Mick” age 56 died unexpectedly at home on Friday, February 2, 2024. He was born in Racine, Wisconsin on February 25, 1967, son of Susan Verheyen (Cronin) and Brian Verheyen.

Mick was a graduate of William Horlick High School, Class of 1985. His passion was cooking. Starting his culinary career as a pizza maker at Wells Brothers Restaurant. Mick began his fine dining career at the Main Street Bistro in Racine. His career took him to the Chicagoland area where he worked at numerous prestigious restaurants including Gibson’s and Wolfgang Puck’s.

An avid Green Bay Packers and Chicago Cub fan, Mick enjoyed all sports especially the seasons he spent playing with the Racine Kenosha Rugby Football Club. As he got his older, his passion for the game of golf grew.

Mick is survived by his children, Jack Verheyen, Grace Verheyen and Ryan Verheyen, his parents, Susan Verheyen (Cronin) and Brian (Cynder) Verheyen, his brother Peter (Deb) Verheyen, his nieces and nephew and many cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.

A Memorial Service celebrating Mick's life will be held 1:00 pm at the funeral home Sunday, February 18, 2024, Relatives and friends are welcome to meet with the family for Visitation Sunday, 12:00 pm until time of service.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the children have been suggested.
