Mildred "Jo" Hill

Mildred Jo Hill, age 76, passed away peacefully on Wednesday evening, November 20, 2024 at her residence surrounded by her loved ones. Mildred affectionately known as…Jo…. was born in Houlka, MS on July 16, 1948, Daughter of the late Calvin and Myrtlee (nee: Owens) Johnson.

Jo accepted Christ at a very early age. She attended grade school in Houlka, MS and graduated from Wm. Horlick High School “Class of 1966”. was united in marriage to Hubert Hill in 2017.She was employed with Andis Co. for twenty-six years until she retired. Jo was a dedicated member of Greater St. Luke’s Baptist Church and enjoyed singing in their choir. Jo was one of the lead singers in the well known Songs of Faith Quartet, for over thirty years, singing her favorite…Wake Me Up…..as well as many others. Jo will be remembered for her beautiful voice, and as a loving, caring and sweet Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother who devoted herself to her family.

Jo will be dearly missed by her husband, Hubert; her Children, Corey Curtis, and Dania Curtis (Benjamin Marshall), Derrick Weaver whom she loved as her own; Grandchildren, Cadena ( Gerold) Davis, Deontae, Janay, Jasmine, Jaleesa, Coretrelle, Nate, Chelsea, Coriana, Cormarion, Jamarcus, Kimion, Josiah, Antonio, Daneya, Danae, Gregory, Danarion, Tai’Ania, and Nadia; 32 Great grandchildren; Siblings, Delores Bey, Andrew Johnson, and Ann Evans; special friends-more like family, Rhonda Bogan, Maxine Townsend and Tina Townsend. Jo also had a close Brother-in-law John Richards; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, Jo was also preceded in death by her Son, Gregory L. Curtis; her Grandson, Davion Vinson Greatgrandson Rickey Lyons III also known as Boobie ; and her Siblings, Francis Hamilton, William Henry Owens, and Willie Calvin Johnson.

Homegoing services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, December 7, 2024, 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Joseph A. Pipes officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m.
