Mildred Mae “Mimi” Kemper, age 86, passed away peacefully in Sparta, WI, at her daughters residence, Tuesday, February 10, 2015, after a lengthy illness, surrounded by her loving family. Mildred was born in Norway, Michigan, May 27, 1928, daughter of the late Cal and Sigrid Johnson.

She was a graduate of Norway High School “Class of 1946”. On September 25, 1948 at St. Rose Catholic Church in Racine she was united in marriage to John Richard Kemper, whom she joins now in heaven, after his passing, December 19, 2014. For many years Mimi was a homemaker and operated as a seamstress out of her home. Later she became employed with the Racine Unified School District as a teaching assistant working at Knapp, Westridge and Fratt Elementary Schools. Mimi was a member of St. Lucy Catholic Church. She had a lifelong interest in needle arts and fiber arts. Above all she will be fondly remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be dearly missed.

Surviving are her 5 children, Dr. Richard J. Kemper (Lynn Tower) of Racine, Debbie Kemper (Mary Tree) of Sparta, WI, Kaye (Tom) Lietz of Gillett, WI, Keith (Cindy) Kemper of Kansasville, Jack Kemper of DePere, WI; 9 grandchildren; 5 step grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Frances Louko of IL; other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by 2 sisters, one brother, and one daughter-in-law.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, February 16, 2015, 11:00 A.M. at St. Lucy’s Catholic Church, 3101 Drexel Avenue with Reverend Mark Jones officiating. Relatives and friends may meet Monday at the church from 10:00 A.M. until time of Mass at 11:00 A.M.

Now that are parents are re-united and their love story continues; our family would like to extend our thanks and gratitude for the friendship, support and love extended to us during this difficult time.
