Mother Marsha LaVone Laws, sweet and beloved mother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend, was called home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 15, 2023, while surrounded by her children, family and friends, she peacefully went on with the Lord.

In Milwaukee, Wisconsin on April 30, 1943, Marsha LaVone Laws was born to the late Minor L. and Mary M. (Gravely) Chambers. At the age of two her family moved to Racine, WI where she was educated in the Racine County School system and graduated from Washington Park High School in 1961.

Marsha moved to California where she met and married her former/late husband, Roy Laws Sr., in which three children were born. In 1973, the family moved back to Wisconsin where she happily rejoined her church home Little Macedonia COGIC. She furthered her education at UW Parkside earning a BA Degree in Social Work. Following her graduation, she was employed by Racine County for 15 years as a social worker and retired in 1997. As one of the pioneers of Little Macedonia COGIC under the guidance of the late founder Pastor Walter B. Ingram: Marsha was one of the first youth to get saved and began her life serving God when she was only 12 years old.

Mother Laws was an exceptional woman, who dressed with modesty and carried herself as an unquestionable child of God. She served on multiple auxiliary boards concentrating mainly with helping the souls of the young. Mother Laws was the President of Purity class and Usher Board; taught Sunday School, Prayer and Bible Band and was considered a Shepherdess Mother who helped all youth in need in all capacities. In addition she had a special calling for helping addicts, the homeless and a Jail ministry. She was a God-fearing faith driven, inspiring Deaconess and was a Licensed Evangelist under the leadership of the late Bishop JC Williams, Third Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction of Wisconsin. She was also a District Missionary with Bethel District under Superintendent Robert White.

Surviving to cherish her memory are her children, Kimberlynn L. Laws, Roy L. Laws, Michelle (Royce) Gurnell ; grandchildren, Shannon II, Micah Alexander, Morris III, Sophia LaVone and Kellianne Laws along with many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and church friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her only sibling, Minor L. Chambers Jr; her grandmothers and father Arthur Bronaugh and Maggie Bronaugh (Mother Bronaugh) and grandmother and grandfather Jarret. Her aunts, Delores Stockman, Joan Dyess, Frankie Dudley and Phyllis Hickman (Mother Hickman); Uncles, Arthur and Fred Bronaugh and many other relatives.

Mother Laws was an anointed woman of God, and strong supporter of her family, church family and friends, she was always found faithfully working to benefit her family, friends and fellow man. Above all she was a devoted mother and grandmother who was honored and deeply loved. Our family is truly heartbroken by our unexpected loss yet through our grief we understand she has now gone from labor of love and unwavering earthly dedication of serving God and to claiming her much deserved holy heavenly reward.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 26, 2023, 3 pm at Macedonia Church of God in Christ, 3309 Kearney Avenue with Reverend Jeffrey Goodman Sr. officiating.
