Life Story / Obituary
Naomi Waisman-Zabler passed away on Sunday, August 24, 2025, at Froedtert Medical Center in Milwaukee, leaving behind a legacy of love, creativity, and a vibrant spirit. Born on March 1, 1950, in Racine, she was the first of three daughters to Philip and Miriam (Nee:Greenberg) Waisman.
Naomi attended Wm. Horlick High School, where she graduated in 1968. Her thirst for knowledge led her to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the esteemed University of Wisconsin Madison.
A dedicated social worker, Naomi’s career spanned over three decades, with her employment by Racine County. Her passion for the arts shone through in her various pursuits, including music, movies, dancing with the Racine International Folk Dancers, Tai Chi, theater, Improv, and Radio Show Murder Mysteries. In her later years, she also found joy in teaching senior fitness classes.
Naomi had an outgoing nature and an infectious sense of humor. She had a knack for puns and loved traveling, always seeking new experiences and connections with others. Her devotion to her family and friends was unwavering, and she will be deeply missed as a devoted mother and grandmother.
Surviving Naomi are her daughters, Amanda (Patrick) Troutman and Shana Novak (Rory Jobst); grandchildren, Noah and Lillian Troutman; her partner, Jay Johnson; sisters, Judy (Jeff) Antman and Mauri Waisman; niece, Lena (Ruben) Quinonez; in addition to other relatives and dear friends. Naomi was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Bruce Zabler.
Relatives and friends can meet with the family at the funeral home on Thursday, August 28, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. with Rabbi Hannah Wallick officiating. Interment will follow at Racine Jewish Memorial Cemetery. Memorials to NAMI have been suggested.
