Ocie B Peet Sr., 85, departed this life February 9, 2022, in Racine, Wisconsin. Ocie Sr was born February 4, 1937, in Stanton, Tennessee, son of the late L.D. Newsome of Sikeston, Missouri and Walter Jack Newsome. At the early age of 2 he relocated to Sikeston, Missouri with his family where he grew up.

Later relocating to Racine, Wisconsin in the 50’s with family, he met the love of his life, the late Eddie Mae Peet and they were united for 63years of marriage. Ocie Sr was a dedicated family man who expressed his love for everyone around him. He was kind, caring, and dedicated a lot of time helping others with a very giving heart. He was a dedicated hard worker retiring from the former J.I. Case Plant with over 30 years of employment.

He enjoyed traveling, cars and trucks and loved his westerns and game and talk shows. Good music could always be heard when he pulled up with a smile worth capturing. Going to the car wash daily and riding past his children’s house was part of his daily routine after retirement. He stepped in as a father for grandchildren as well as great grandchildren. He loved his family and showed it in every way possible.

Surviving are his brother Joe (Clara) Peet of Mississippi: sister, Linda Tucker of Texas; lifelong friends, Cleveland and Mary Cornelius of Racine; children Mary Jane Peet, Ocie Peet Jr, Linda Delores Peet, John E. Peet, James (Marilyn) Peet of Racine, WI; grandchildren, Toni L. Peet-Vaughn whom he raised as his daughter, Tamika Snow, Murl (Jazmen) Monroe Jr, Eddie Monroe, Tierra Peet, Tiffany Peet, Javonte Peet, Vontel Lewis, Ocie (Brittney) Peet lll, Darius (Lacy) Peet, Ashley (Justin) James, Fatima (Chuck) Wakefield; special great granddaughter, Amiuynique Peet Williams whom he had a special bond with over the last 15 years that he helped raise as a daughter; many great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren nieces, nephews, family and friends who will miss him. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Eddie Mae Peet; brothers, O.V. Peet Jr and Willie Newsome; sisters, Christine Marshall and Lula Linson; grandchildren, Joaunie Peet and Lavelle Monroe; and lifelong friend and brother, Prentis Tatum Sr.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 26, 2022, 12 pm noon at Taylor Avenue Church of the Nazarene, 2100 Taylor Ave, with Rev. Kory Heal officiating. Relatives and friends may meet prior to the service 10 am until 12 pm. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park.
