Orenza "Sonny" McKinney

Orenza “Sonny” McKinney, age 84, passed away on Monday September 7, 2020. Orenza was born in Wilcox County, AL on June 17, 1936, son of the late Luccius and Emma (nee: Powell) McKinney.

Sonny worked in law enforcement until he retired. On the side, he would hang garage doors. An intelligent man, always trying to keep his mind sharp, Sonny would build computers. He was a dedicated member and Deacon at his church, New Beginnings Baptist Church. In his spare time, Sonny loved to go fishing and spend time with his family and friends. He was loved and respected by everyone and will be dearly missed.

Sonny will be dearly missed by his children, Orenza McKinney JR of New York City., and Tiffany McKinney of LaGrange, GA; granddaughter ,Giovonni; sisters, Alice Smith of Selma, AL, Arlie Mae Hyatt of Birmingham, AL, Angelee (Bossie) Bolton of Racine, Zettie (Raymond) Robinson of Racine; special friends, Mrs. Annie Hirston and Mr. Thomas Maddox of LaGrange, GA; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, Sonny was also preceded in death by 13 siblings and his niece, Lubertha Reynolds.

Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Friday September 18, 2020, 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Stanley McKinzi officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. The service will be live streamed and may be viewed by going to the funeral home website, select Orenza McKinney page, select services, and select live stream.
