Life Story / Obituary
Patricia Ann Heinrichs, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, lived a life defined by faith, family, and quiet strength. She was the heart of her family and the steady presence behind so much of what made it whole.
Born on August 24, 1936, Patricia Ann Weill was reared in Racine and attended St. Joseph’s Grammar School before graduating from St. Catherine’s High School. A year behind John in school, she was well aware of him—his larger-than-life personality, his reputation, and the attention he drew. But life has a way of bringing people together in moments that seem small at the time.
At 19 years old, standing in the rain after missing her bus on the way to work, Patricia accepted a ride from John. That simple act—one moment, one decision—would change the course of both of their lives. From that day forward, they built a life together rooted in love, commitment, and unwavering partnership. Patricia saw beyond everything else and loved John fully and without hesitation.
Together, they created a home and a family that would become her life’s greatest work. In 1958, John and Pat built their home—one of the first in what was then open farmland—where they would raise their children and create decades of memories. Their life together was simple in its beginnings and rich in what truly mattered: faith, family, and dedication to one another.
Patricia always knew she wanted to be a mother. In August of 1963, she welcomed her first child, Michael—named after the Archangel Michael, a protector—into her life. She would often recall the moment she first brought him home, noting his blue eyes and the love she felt from that very beginning.
From the very beginning, Patricia and John made it known that their family was not yet complete. John had always hoped for a daughter, and in the late summer of 1965, that wish was fulfilled with the arrival of Kathy. She was a precious and cherished addition to the family—bringing balance, joy, and a sense that everything was now as it should be. With her arrival, the family was complete.
Michael, as her older brother, was given an unspoken but deeply understood role—to look after his sister, to protect her, and to help carry forward the strength and unity of the family. That bond, and that responsibility, became part of the foundation Patricia built and nurtured throughout her life.
Patricia devoted herself fully to her children, raising them with strength, love, and faith. Her life was one of devotion—to her family, to her Catholic faith, and to the values she lived every day. Her faith was not simply something she believed; it was something she practiced daily, providing guidance, comfort, and strength throughout every season of her life. She and John built a life grounded in church, hard work, and commitment, sharing nearly 69 years together. Following John’s passing in April of 2025, Patricia carried forward with the same quiet resilience that had defined her entire life.
In her later years, Patricia found comfort and peace at St. Monica's, a place that held deep meaning for her, as it had also cared for her own mother. She remained social, engaged, and present—enjoying trivia nights, conversations with friends, and the simple pleasures of daily life while continuing to live life on her terms.
Patricia is survived by her children, Michael Heinrichs (Shannon Giese) and Kathy Setzer (Mike Setzer); her former son-in-law Chris Salamone (Joy Salamone); her grandchildren: Cynthia Ann Sheckles and Jessica (Rocky) Goodpasture (children of Chris Salamone), and Michael Setzer and Troye Setzer (children of Kathy and Mike Setzer); and her great-grandchildren: Elijah Salamone, Donny Sheckles, Christopher Sheckles, and Scarlet Goodpasture, all of whom carry forward the values, strength, and love she gave so freely.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the many caregivers and staff—both past and present—who provided compassion, care, and dignity to Patricia throughout her time at St. Monica’s. Your kindness has meant more than words can express.
Even in discussing difficult subjects, Patricia maintained a quiet sense of humor. When conversations turned to funeral arrangements, she would often smile and remind everyone, “I’m not going to be there. I will be with my Husband” It was a simple remark, but one that reflected the grace, perspective, and gentle wit that remained with her throughout her life.
Patricia Heinrichs leaves behind a legacy not built on grand gestures, but on a lifetime of steady love, quiet strength, and unwavering faith. She was the foundation of her family, the calm in every storm, and the one who held everything together.
Her life is a reminder that the most meaningful things are often the simplest: to love deeply, to care for one another, and to remain present in the moments we are given.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, June 18, 2026, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1533 Erie St. with Rev Jose Mario Nieto officiating.
