Peggy E. Taylor

Peggy Ellen Taylor, age 81, passed away Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at North Memorial Medical Center, Robbinsdale, MN. She was born in Chicago, IL, February 21, 1933 daughter of the late Gregory C. and Tena (Nee:Mitchell) Davis.

Peggy graduated from Englewood High School and Los Angeles City College. On August 4, 1956 she was united in marriage to Orin C. Taylor who preceded her in death July 12, 2009. Peggy was employed by West Harvey-Dixmoor District 147, in Chicago, IL until moving to Racine Wi. Peggy was a teacher for the Racine Unified School District, teaching at Lincoln, Barlett, Olympic Brown and Gifford from 1969 until retirement. She was a member of Racine Educators Association (REA), Wisconsin Educators Association (WEA), and the National Educators Association (NEA). She enjoyed her children, grandchildren, family, friends, baking, and crossword puzzles. Above all she was a devoted sister, wife, mother, and grandmother who will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her two sons, Orin K. Taylor Sr. of Roseville, CA, Joel K. Taylor of Plymouth, MN; three grandchildren, Orin “KJ” Jr., Ashleigh, and Vanessa Ellen Marie; sister, Mabel Bibb of Golden Valley, MN brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Michael (Cheryl) Taylor of IL, Milton Taylor of New York; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her son, Jeffrey, siblings, Gregory Davis, Gloria (Alvin) Washington, Louise (Donald) DeAklin, Dorthy (Henry) Darby.

Visitation will be held in Racine at the funeral home on Friday, August 8, 2014, 5-7 P.M. followed by a prayer service at 7 P.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, August 9, 2014, 11:00 a.m. at St. Columbanus Church, 331 E. 71st Street, Chicago, IL with Father Matt O’Donnell officiating. Entombment will follow at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery, Alsip, IL. Visitation will also be held in Chicago at the church Saturday10:00 A.M. until time of Mass.
