Life Story / Obituary
Penelope “Penny” J. Gagnon, age 78, passed away Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at Wheaton Franciscan – All Saints Medical Center. She was born in Racine, January 24, 1938, daughter of the late Clarence and Elizabeth (Nee: Pritchard) Keller and was a lifelong resident of Racine.
On October 26, 1957 at the First United Methodist Church she was united in marriage to Charles J. Gagnon. Penny was employed for several years at Hotel Nelson and Syvia’s as a waitress. In her earlier years she performed at the Racine Theater Guild where she always enjoyed productions. Penny was a member of the Racine Yacht Club and enjoyed time volunteering at the Women’s Shelter.
She will be dearly missed by her loving husband of fifty-eight years, Charles; her children, Chris Gagnon, Mike Gagnon, Benjamin (Sue) Gagnon, all of Racine; her grandsons, Gregory (Katja) Gagnon, Ryan (Erin) Gagnon; her great-granddaughters, Kaydin and Gwendolyn Gagnon; brothers and sister, Allen (Beverly) Whurman, Jane (Mike) Marsolek, Bob Ozowski; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Diane Keller, Sally (Bernard) Gross, Alan (Bonnie) Gagnon; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her stepfather, Ben Ozowski and brother, Richard Keller.
Funeral services will be held Monday, June 13, 2016, 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Sunday at the funeral home from 2:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M. and Monday at the funeral home from 10:00 A.M. until time of service at 11:00 A.M. Memorials to one’s favorite charity have been suggested.
