Ramon Garcia Chavez

Ramon Garcia Chavez, age 82, passed away Monday, February 18, 2013 at Wheaton Franciscan – All Saints Medical Center. Ramon was born in Durango, Mexico, February 18, 1931, son of the late Santiago and Alberta (Nee: Chavez) Garcia.

On December 5, 1953 he was united in marriage to Ricarda Carrillo. He worked at Harris Metals for many years. Ramon was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. He loved music and woodworking. Above all he was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who will be deeply missed.

Survivors include his loving wife, Ricarda; his children, Maria (Luis) Aguirre, Locadia Garcia, Yolanda (Lionel) Munoz, Ilaria Garcia (Mario Rivas), Jose (Ventura) Garcia, Santiago (Martha) Garcia, Ramon (Lucy) Garcia, Alberta Garcia, Maria Garcia (Errique Ascencio); 31 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; brother, Tiburcio Garcia; sister, Ausencia Garcia; sisters-in-law, other relatives and many dear friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, February 22, 2013, 4:00 P.M. at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1100 Erie Street with Rev. Antony Thomas officiating. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Friday at the church from 2:00 P.M. until time of Mass at 4:00 P.M. Interment will be held in Durango, Mexico.
