Reverend Nathaniel Hicks, age 85, peacefully entered eternal rest on Friday, May 2, 2025. Nathaniel was born in Greenville, Mississippi on March 7, 1940, son of the late Andrew Hicks and Lilly Bell Rose.

He enjoyed singing, fishing, cooking, and spending time with his family. He had a special relationship with sweets and usually ate dessert before his meal. Nathaniel was known for his sense of humor and was always looking for the next victim of one of his practical jokes. He liked to travel and never believed in staying in one place for too long. He was ambitious and adventurous. He never met a stranger and never missed the opportunity to help somebody. He would feed you; he would let you live in his house; he would give you clothes to wear; he would give you a job; and he would let you drive his car.

In August 1963, Nathaniel married the love of his life, Betty Jean Hicks. They shared 55 years of love and marriage until she passed in 2018.

Nathaniel was a businessman and entrepreneur. He owned a record shop; a candy store/arcade; a janitorial service; and an insurance business. He was a pastor and a funeral home director.

Nathaniel accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age; and fortified his walk with God when he accepted the call to ministry. Over the years, he founded several churches and served as Pastor to many more. He most recently served at Little Sister M.B. Church in Avon, MS; and at St. Mark M.B. Church in Tippo, MS. He retired from ministry in 2003 and relocated to Wisconsin to be closer to his family.

Nathaniel will be dearly missed by his children, Yvonne George, Charles (Carolyn) Lott, Glenn Lott, Carleen Price, Patricia Hicks Hudson, and Tonya Perry; 12 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren, 3 great, great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents and his wife, Nathaniel was preceded in death by his sons, Joe Hicks and Dennis Grayson; grandson, Jasmond George; brothers, James Willie Hicks and Earl Hicks; sisters, Rose Hicks Smith, Pearl Hicks Amos, and Ruby Hicks Price.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, 11 a.m. at Dominion Church of God MPGT, 402 9th Street, Racine with Pastor Timias Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Graceland Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m.
