Richard Irving Buhler, age 95, passed away Monday, August 18, 2025. He was born in Wauwatosa, WI on November 25, 1929, son of the late Louis and Edith Buhler. They moved to Racine in 1931. Richard attended Washington Park High School, majoring in printing, and graduated in 1947.

On July 26, 1952, he was united in marriage to Carol Jane Wade in Anchorage, Alaska while serving in the U.S. Army. They returned to Racine in 1953.

Richard was employed as a printer his entire life. He worked at Belle City Press, Service Printing, and the Union Grove Sun. In 1965 Richard and three friends started Royal Publishing/Shoreline Leader in a bedroom of his family home. The business eventually moved to the corner of State and Main Street in Racine. In 1973 he left the business and moved to Jackson, Michigan. Richard worked as a printer for the Legislative Service Bureau in Lansing until retiring in 1992.

Richard loved playing cribbage, golfing, baseball, bowling, visiting Arlington Park race track, camping and canoeing with family and friends. Richard and Carol traveled by motor home out west, living in Las Vegas for 12 years, Colorado and Arizona for 6 years, returning to Racine in 2011.

Surviving is his wife Carol, his children Susan (David) Maki, Steven (Denise) Buhler, Scott (Gale) Buhler, Randy Buhler, Michael (Kima) Buhler; nine grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

A private memorial service with immediate family will be held at a later date followed by interment at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, in the town of Dover.
