Richard Millard Aukland

Richard M. Aukland, age 89, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday June 7, 2025. Richard was born in Nielsville, MN on March 7, 1936, son of the late Millard and Emma (nee: Kittleson) Aukland.

On October 23, 1954, Richard was united in marriage to the love of his life, Marvel Nygaard at Zion Lutheran Church in Shelly, MN. Richard owned and operated Aukland Plastering where he contracted around the county for sixty years. In his spare time, he enjoyed riding his motorcycle and traveling. Above all, he will be best remembered for his love and devotion to his family.

Richard will be dearly missed by his wife of seventy years, Marvel; his children, Charles, Michelle and Kurt Aukland; 10 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; his siblings, Donald (Jean) Aukland, Ruby (William) Pahl, Monica (Tom) Shideler; sister-in-law, Connie Aukland; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, Richard was also preceded in death by his son, Randall; siblings, Myrtle (Harvey)Scott, Iris (Don)Erickson, Orville (Sharon) Aukland, and Gene Aukland.

Per Richard’s wishes, a private family celebration will be held.
