Richard "Rick" J. Kirt

Richard J. Kirt, age 74, passed away at his home, February 9, 2026. He was born in Racine, April 25, 1951, son of the late William and Winifred (Nee: Zlevor) Kirt.

On July 11, 1981, Rick was united in marriage to Barbara Ryback, who preceded him in death on December 1, 2018. Rick served the Racine community as a Police Officer with the Racine Police Department for many years, until his retirement in 1990. He was a devout Christian, and his faith was very important in his life he was a member and Sacristan at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. An outdoorsman, Rick’s passions included, sailing, photography and camping.

He will be sadly missed by his siblings, Stephen (Sue) Kirt, Theresa (George) Markiewicz and Kenneth W. Kirt; in-laws, Jacki Kirt, Lee Hansen, Sharon (Tim) Dickert; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Catherine (Don) Carbonneau, John Kirt and Margaret Hansen also his stepfather, Gerald Winser.

A Memorial Mass celebrating Rick’s life will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 6400 Spring St. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends are welcome to meet with the family for Visitation Wednesday at 10:00 am until time of Mass at Church. Memorials to St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church have been suggested by the family.
