Robert Martin Cohen passed away unexpectedly on July 21, 2023 with his wife by his side. He was born on November 25, 1944 in the Bronx, the son of the late Esther (Nee: Parkin) and David Cohen. He was also known affectionately by family and friends as “Bob,” “Robbie,” and “Pop.”

Robert graduated from high school in the Bronx in 1962. From a young age he valued hard work and dedicated himself to whatever job he was doing. He started working at the age of seven in a relative’s floral shop and held various jobs from then on. After high school, he worked as a clerk in a department store before starting his career as a telephone man. He was employed by the New York Telephone Company in New York City, then AT&T which became Lucent Technologies, and finally retired from Avaya in 2000. He also served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

He married the love of his life, Mary Margaret Rich, on October 11, 1972 and they recently celebrated their Golden Anniversary. It was love at first sight and their love will continue to eternity. They welcomed two beautiful children, Adam and Samantha (Sam), to complete their family of four.

A selfless man, Robert worked every day to make a better life for his wife and children. He was the friend anyone could count on and would kibbitz with everyone he met. His personality was larger than life, not to be outdone by his voice.

Robert leaves behind his wife Mary; children, Adam (Melissa Bogen) and Sam Cohen (Josh Slamka); grandchildren Ephraim, Helina, and Hadasa; brother Micky (Mimi), and many other cherished relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his dearly loved mother, Esther Cohen, sister Helene Lerch, and so many more loved ones.

No funeral or memorial service is immediately planned. The family will notify loved ones in the future when a memorial is scheduled. They are requesting that memorial contributions be made to your local Wreaths Across America or favorite veterans organization.
