Rosemary Kostos, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend was born to eternal life on Sunday October 15, 2023. She passed away peacefully, with her family by her side, at Ascension All Saints Medical Center, after courageously and fiercely battling numerous health issues over the years. Her spirit and her faith never defeated. Rosemary was born in Chicago on December 11, 1939, daughter of the late Joseph and Rose Mary (Nee: Soto) Arellano.

On July 5, 1958, in Chicago, Rosemary was united in marriage to the love of her life, George Joseph Kostos. During their 65 years of marriage they were richly blessed, spending time together, along with their children: Vincent (Karen) Kostos, Jeffery (Mary) Kostos, Brian (Teri-Dee) Kostos, Kevin (Rebecca) Kostos, Pamela (Stephen) Leach; 10 grandchildren, Tyler (Jaimee), Logan, Leah, Ryan (Sarah), Paxton (Dalton), Taylor, Chloe, Kassandra, Kameron, Garrett, Simone and great grandson Cody. Rosemary loved family gatherings, preparing a feast for all to enjoy and always willing to dance. Above all it was time spent with her family that she cherished most.

She was loved dearly and will be sadly missed by her husband, George of 65 years; siblings Yolanda Arellano, Joseph Arellano (Melissa), Ronald (Judi) Arellano, Victor (Michelle) Arellano; sister-in-law, Patricia Kelly (Homer), nieces, nephew’s other relatives and dear friends. In addition to her parent’s, she was preceded in death by her brother, Richard Arellano.

Our family expresses deep gratitude for the compassionate and loving care received during her last days at Ascension, in particular from Nurse Shelly and Dr. Vernon.

The Mass of Resurrection celebrating Rosemary’s life and her faith will be held at 11:30 am, Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at St. Rita Catholic Church, 4339 Douglas Ave., with Rev. Doug Leonhardt S.J., officiating. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Garden Mausoleum, Hwy. 32. Relatives and friends are welcome to meet with the family for Visitation on Wednesday, 10:00 am until time of Mass at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials and donations to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Senior Companion Program, The Multiple Myeloma Foundation, have been suggested by the family.
