Ryan Todd Olson, age 31, passed away Tuesday, October 16, 2012 in San Diego, California while on one of his many adventures. Ryan was born in Racine, June 18, 1981, son of Todd D. Olson and Heidi M. (Nee: Joswig) Olson.

Ryan graduated from Case High School in Racine, earned a Pharmacy Tech certificate, and was currently pursuing a degree in science and pharmaceuticals at ASU, while running his lucrative Ebay business.

Ryan was passionate about his involvement with the AA community, leading meetings in prisons, churches, schools, and homes. He was motivated by the desire to encourage others who struggled with addiction and helped many get “back on their feet”.

One of Ryan’s favorite places was Racine North Beach. He loved being on Lake Michigan, whether it was during his life guarding years, or boating with his family. He spent many summers vacationing at the family cabin in Manitowish Waters. Ryan was a very unique and creative individual, loved collecting Nike Air Jordans, artsy T-shirts, and Ray-Ban Sunglasses. He was an avid Packer and Bucks fan. He was admired for his passion for music, as his playlists were always sought after by family and friends.

Ryan would light up a room with his infectious smile and big blue eyes, have everyone laughing with his witty down to earth humor (even when not appropriate) which always came so natural. There was never a dull moment when Ryan was present. He had a passion for learning and was drawn to adventure.

Survivors include his loving parents, Todd and Heidi; his adored sisters, Jennifer (Dave) Swinehart of Hong Kong, Cali (Dave) Mowad of Gilbert, AZ; Grandparents, David and Jacque Olson, Erna Joswig, all of Racine; Aunts and Uncles, Tamryn (Keith) Anderson of Minneapolis, MN, Tracy (Steve) Kon of New Berlin, WI, “Coolest Uncle” Randy (Tina) Joswig of Oregon, WI, Aunt Jeanie Olson of Oregon, WI; niece and nephew Jackson and Bella Mowad; awesome and adored uncle to Kai Mowad; cousins, Jeremy and Hannah Joswig, Brett Anderson, Sophie and David Kon, Emily and Nick Zurawski., Kaitlyn, Megan, and Allison Zurawski, April Venne, Lane Olson, Miles, Tyler, Josh Farnsworth, Tony Ingle; treasured friends, Tyler M. Kees of Gilbert, AZ, Tyler Strong of AZ, Cody Anderson of Racine; very special soul sister Taylor Miller of Chicago; and blessed by a special kinship with Jill Miller; and all those friends too numerous to list – you know who you are. He was preceded in death by his grandfather Guenter Joswig; great-grandparents, Grace Mackey, Richard and Nellie Olson.

A Memorial Service will be held Friday, October 26, 2012, 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home given by Uncle Randy. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Friday at the funeral home from 4:00 P.M. until time of service at 7:00 P.M. Memorials to Transitional Living Service, 3710 Douglas, Avenue, Racine, WI 53402 or Racine County Food Bank, 2000 DeKoven Avenue #2, Racine, WI 53403 are suggested to further Ryan’s spirit of helping others.

The family would like to thank all those who held Ryan up in prayer…

They have been heard and answered.

“We know your soul has finally found the peace and comfort you have been so desperately seeking”
