Life Story / Obituary
Sandra Rose Roberts, 78, formerly of Racine, passed away peacefully after a short illness on January 21, 2024, at her residence in Kenosha. Her daughters were by her side.
Sandra was born to Stanley and Dorothy (Walker) Dziurgalski on June 29, 1946, in Detroit, Michigan. The family followed Stanley’s career in the Army and later moved to Fort Knox, Kentucky. After graduating high school in Meade County, Kentucky, Sandra married Gary Roberts on December 20, 1964. They later moved to Bowling Green, Kentucky, and raised two children.
After working in various roles as a book keeper and administrative assistant, Sandra moved with Gary to Springfield, Illinois, as Gary took a new role with Roland Machinery. When Gary was promoted to head up a new branch of the business, Sandra moved with him Racine, Wisconsin.
Throughout her life, Sandra looked for opportunities to travel. She had the opportunity to visit one of her daughters in England, and she made frequent trips to California. She also had the opportunity to go with her family to Lambeau Field so they could watch the Green Bay Packers play in person.
Sandra was also an avid reader and frequently visited the Racine Public Library to stock up on the latest cozy mystery books. She always had a book of crosswords close by. Although she was a true bookworm, she was always ready to lend an ear to a friend and was known for her kindness and generosity.
Sandra is survived by her husband, Gary; his two daughters, Caroline Roberts of Massachusetts and Lee Roberts of New Jersey; and 2 beloved grandchildren, James and Isla Dortch.
Sandra was preceded in death by her parents.
At the wishes of the family, a small service will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to the American Diabetes Association or Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
