Life Story / Obituary
Sara B. Santos (Martinez) passed away surrounded by her family in the comfort of her home in the early morning hours of August 2nd, 2025 after a courageous battle against cancer.
Sara started life out with a bang, being born on January 1st1946, in Crystal City, Texas to the late Francisco and Esther Martinez (Bocanegra). A family of 9 kids, 4 of whom preceded her in death (Robert, Irma, Raymond, & Margaret), she learned the importance of family and hard work from a young age. She was the first to graduate high school in her family, Horlick High in Racine. Sara gave her life to helping others, from working in the hospital to cleaning homes but working with kids was what she loved to do. She retired from both the Racine Unified School District and Kohl’s Department after many years.
Sara met and married the love of her life, the late Michael Santos, in 1966. A short two years later their son, Jeffrey, was born and a few years after their daughter Lori was born. Sara was meant to be a mother, and her biggest pride was in the children she raised. In the free time she had, Sara loved dancing in the kitchen, traveling with friends, and spending time with those she loved most.
Sara left a huge hole in the hearts of her family: children Jeff (Beth) Santos, Lori (Don) Schneider, granddaughter Alyssa (Tommy) Lloyd, and great-grandkids Abigail, Olivia, and Luca. She will be deeply missed by her siblings Frankie Martinez, Manuel Martinez, Juanita Jaramillo, and Olga Rico along with countless nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was a saint on Earth, to know her was to love her, and those that did will forever cherish the memories she left behind.
Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Tuesday August 12, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. with A Celebration of Sara’s Life Service to start at 5:00 p.m.
