Life Story / Obituary
Sharon Lee Hoffman, age 75, passed away Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at her residence. The 15th child of Harry and Lottie (Nee: Spencer) Caskey was born August 27, 1939 and lived most of her life in Racine. On December 14, 1957 she married Donald J. Hoffman and married him again February 14, 1994.
Sharon was an avid sports enthusiast. She enjoyed fishing, hunting, NASCAR, football (Packers since 1962), golfing, bowling, and playing cards. Sharon won the city bowling tournament all events and bowled the highest scratch (3) game series (638) in 1969. She also shot her first deer, 180 lb. doe, in 1984 followed by a buck the next year. Sharon loved catching and eating the fish she caught (many were trophy fish), fishing in many lakes in Northern Wisconsin. She always loved a good game of cards, especially sheepshead and cribbage. At 21, she had a perfect hand, and other one thereafter. Sharon, Don, and their kids enjoyed many trips to Las Vegas and to her daughter Victoria’s home, in Bullhead City, Arizona in the winter. Her daughter, Kathy, always made sure Mom had a good time wherever they went. Sharon loved animals of all sorts. She took in and cared for many abused and lost dogs. In the 1960’s Sharon raised AKA Basset Hounds. Her favorite holiday was Christmas where everyone received many gifts.
Sharon was always very proud of her family and all their accomplishments. Sharon’s parents loved everyone and their love was shown through the respect of others and helping one another whenever possible. Sharon enjoyed all the cribbage games with her daughter Terri and niece, Jill Malner.
Sharon is survived by her loving husband, Donald; her daughters, Victoria L. Peterson, Terri L. Matson, and Kathy J. Hoffman, all of Racine; six granddaughters; four great-granddaughters and two great-grandsons; sisters, Florence Harris, Doris (LeRoy) Roedema, both of Racine, Donna Harnask of New Port Richey, FL, and the best sister you could ever want, Judith (Gene) Hulsey of Racine; brothers, Wilber Caskey, Warren (Barb) Caskey, all of Racine, brothers and poker pals, Roger (Kathy) Caskey and Glen (Maria) Caskey, all of Racine; nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, three brothers, and one great-granddaughter.
Funeral services will be held Monday, February 23, 2015, 4:00 P.M. at the funeral home with Rev. John Fleming officiating. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Monday at the funeral home from 2:00 P.M. until time of service at 4:00 P.M. Memorials to the Wisconsin Humane Society have been suggested.
“I love you all very much. I lived my life to every degree, always trying and doing new things. It was a venture of experiences.”
