Sherman Earl Barber “Squirrel”, 52, was called home on Thursday, May 18, 2023. He was born in Lancaster, PA, on February 7, 1971, to Sherman Barber and the late Linda Ann Barber (nee Stuckey).

He moved to Racine with his family at the age of 8, relocating from Chicago, IL. Earl was a comedian at heart and was always good for a laugh. He enjoyed doing comedy shows, listening to music, dancing, fishing, and painting houses; but he really cherished the time spent with his family and friends and was always ready to barbeque. His catchphrases were “we gone bop” and “what the what”. He was known for his honesty and if he loved you, he made sure you knew it. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his father, he is survived by his children: DeMario Barber, Diamond Malone, Jaquelyn Jackson, ShaKela Cameron, Brittney Williams, Keonna (Terrell) Knighton, Siera Barber, Sherman Barber, Aaliyah Barber, Treva Strong, A’Nia Barber, Legend Barber, Ca’Myiah Barber, Legacy Barber, and Marques Riley; stepchildren: Cam’Airee Simpson and Sylvia Rolle; 22 grandchildren; sisters, Phyllis Barber, Jackie Smith, and Toya Moore; brother, Wili Allen, Brandon Warren; stepsister, Helen Lowery; his brother from another mother, Percy Johnson; special friends: Deandre, Floyd, Greg, James, Kofi, Matt, Raymond, and Therris; his northside brothers; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

In addition to his mother, Earl was preceded in death by his grandson, DeMario Barber, Jr.; his sister, Cynthia Stuckey; brother, Terry Barber; maternal grandparents, Henry and Ida Stuckey; paternal grandparents, Richard and Lucille Barber.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 9, 2023, at 11:00 a.m., at Greater St Luke's Baptist Church, 1326 State Street, with Pastor Timias Johnson officiating. Visitation will be in the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will follow at Graceland Cemetery.

A special note of thanks to family, friends, and our church families of Freedom Worship Ministries and New Life Christian Fellowship for the many prayers and acts of kindness offered. May God bless you all!
