With her family by her side, Shirley Ann Alton, age 81, passed away peacefully on Friday May 10, 2024 at her residence. Shirley was born in Racine on January 24, 1943, daughter of the late Edward and Myrtle (nee: Christensen) Miller and had been a lifelong resident.

She graduated from Washington Park High School “Class of 1961”. On June 9, 1962, Shirley was united in marriage to the love of her life, Delbert D. Alton. They raised three children, David, DeAnn and Douglas, and shared nearly sixty-two beautiful years together. Shirley was a dedicated member of the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection. She was a great seamstress and enjoyed sewing and making quilts and denim purses, gardening, rummaging, thrifting and baking, especial her family event crowd pleasers, cowboy beans and brownies. Above all, Shirley will be best remembered for her great love and devotion to her family.

Shirley will be dearly missed by her loving husband, Del; children, David (Tami) Alton, DeAnn (Jason) Bliss, Douglas (Susan) Alton; grandchildren, Nicole (Jeremiah), Holly (Taylor), Ashley (Ryan), Carter, Garrett, Patrick (Katrina), Zach, Tyler (Kiersten), and Dakota; brother, LeRoy (Nancy) Miller; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, Shirley was also preceded in death by her sister, Jeanette (Donald) Erickson.

Funeral services will be held at Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, 322 Ohio Street, Friday May 17, 2024, 6:00 p.m., with Rev. John Anderson officiating. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the church on Friday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service at 6:00 p.m. Interment will be held at West Lawn Memorial Park. Memorials to Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, Community Care, Senior Helpers or Badger Hospice have been suggested.

The family extends a special thank you to Shirley’s niece, Emily; caregivers, Letha, Alquetta, Shanita from Senior helpers, Community Care, and Badger Hospice for their loving and compassionate care.
