Life Story / Obituary
Sister Dorothy Ann Greiber, O.P., 98, passed away at Siena Center on Thursday December 18th, 2025.
Dorothy Ann was born October 12, 1927 to John and Amanda (nee: Loeser) Greiber in Roxbury, WI. On January 28, 1943 she joined the Racine Dominicans and at her reception in 1944 she was given the religious name Sister Mary Myron. She professed her first vows in 1946 and her final vows in 1952. In 1968 she returned to using her baptismal name, Dorothy Ann.
Sister Dorothy Ann spent many years in service to others as a teacher, secretary and principal. She began her ministry in 1945 at St. Rose, Racine, WI. Other places in Wisconsin where she served were St. Francis Xavier, Merrill; St. Charles, Burlington; St. Aloysius, Sauk City; Sacred Heart, St. Edward and St. Joseph, Racine; St. Andrew Knowles; St. Mary, Belgium; and St. Louis, Caledonia. At St. Catherine’s Infirmary she served as a social worker. In 1991 she became the Administrative Secretary at Siena Center. Later she was an ESL tutor and a volunteer at the Siena Retreat Center. She also served in Illinois. She became a resident at Siena Center in 1990.
Sister Dorothy Ann is survived by the Racine Dominican Sisters and Associates. She was predeceased by her parents; and her brothers Elmer, Arnold, Myron, Victor, Herbert and Mark and sisters Lillian Skolaski, Rita Vanderpoel, Gladys Zipter and Edna Josef.
A Remembering Service will be at 8:45am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in the Siena Center Chapel on Friday, January 9th, 2026. Interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery Hwy 32. Memorials to the Racine Dominican Mission Outreach have been suggested.
