Susan Bukacek

Susan E. Bukacek passed away Monday, June 1, 2015. Susan was born in Racine, May 11, 1965, daughter of James and Bernice (Nee: Miller) Bukacek.

Susan “Susie” brought an infectious zest and passion for life that sparkled most when she was with her three children, whom she loved and adored above all else. Susan lived life fully, channeling her artistic and creative energies into many livelong passions. A consummate learner, Susan earned a Bachelor Degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara and Masters Degree from DePaul University. Her career as an entrepreneur integrated her gifts of writing, marketing and culinary talents, which shined brightest as owner and operator of “The Soup” restaurant, which brought delight to all who visited. A lover of nature and simple pleasures, Susan found joy walking her dogs, picking asparagus, planting flowers, reading and traveling. She will be fondly remembered for her bubbly personality, wry sense of humor, infectious giggle, and beautiful spirit. Susan lit up a room when she entered.

Her greatest love and devotion were her children, Jaimeson, Harry, and Helena and she deeply cared for her stepchildren Mary, Steffi and Drew. Susan is survived by her mother, Bernice Bukacek; brothers and sister, Nick (Lynn) Bukacek, Cheryl (Jerry) Isen, Andy Bukacek; many nieces, nephews, close relatives and countless dear friends. She was preceded in death by her father, James Bukacek.

A Celebration of Susan’s life will be held at the funeral home Saturday, June 13, 2015, 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Dr. Tony Larsen officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Women’s Resource Center, PO Box 1764, Racine, WI 53401.
