Life Story / Obituary
Suzanne Lou Weibel passed on to heaven on January 28, 2026, after more than a twenty year battle with Parkinsons. Sue was born on September 15, 1945, to Louis and Rose (Klimowicz) Schneider. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Rudy Weibel along with three children: Katie (Brent) Kelley of Hayward; Andy (Jodi) Weibel of Reynoldsburg, Ohio; Louie (Angela) Weibel of Kenmore, Washington; and six grandchildren: Maura Kelley, Shaun Kelley, Rae Weibel, Millie Weibel, Bella Weibel and Ellie Weibel. Sue is also survived by her sister Karen Gensler of San Diego and sisters-in-law Mary (Jerry) Betker and Ann (AL) Thellefson along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Like many children of the fifties Sue was strongly anchored in faith and family. A typical Wisconsin kid, Sue was educated at St Joe’s grade school, St Catherine’s high school and UW Stevens Point. She was always ready to be involved in the community despite the interruption of several interstate moves. From PTA and cub scouts to parish council and college sorority advisor she could always find a place to put her energy and to make friends. Sue certainly enjoyed projects and some of the most enjoyable were planning the periodic all family vacations. She was determined that the grandkids living in three different time zones would get to know each other, it worked.
As a twelve year old, Sue began working in her father’s grocery store, Lincoln Super Market on State Street. She was always active in work and community. The first couple of years out of college Sue was a teacher and while liking the academic environment she did not feel that teaching was her calling so she spent several years as secretary in the facilities departments of school districts. Her best times were when big projects were on the table, new buildings, etc. Working with contractors and involvement in the logistics were fun. This interest carried over to her home life where, with exception of the one home lived in only six months, each residence had a change in character from one or more of her projects. In younger years Sue mixed activities like cross-country skiing and tennis with her card playing. As the years progressed it was more likely to be bocce ball, a bridge game and dinner with friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Sue’s life will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, February 9, 2026, at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 6400 Spring St., with Rev. Joseph Heit officiating. Relatives and friends are welcome to meet with the family for Visitation, Monday at 10:00 am until time of Mass at the church. Private interment will take place at West Lawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers please make contributions to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinsons Research or Saint Catherines High School.
A special thanks to the Parkinsons Support Group of the Alzheimer’s Coachella Valley for many years of information and providing a supportive community. The last four years of a difficult Parkinsons journey were made pleasant by the caring and compassionate staff of Brookside Care Center in Kenosha. On the days I was not with Sue, I knew that she was being treated with the love and attention she deserved.
