Life Story / Obituary
Terence “Terry” J. Haas, age 94, passed away on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at his residence. Terry was born in Bonduel, WI, on February 2, 1931, the son of the late Clarence and Genevieve (Nee: Reichert) Haas.
Terry was a brother of Holy Cross, entering the age of 13 until the age of 44. He received his master’s degree from the University of Notre Dame. On August 7, 1976, Terry was united in marriage to Eleanore Powers who preceded him in death on April 10,1991. Terry was an educator as well as an IRS agent. He was a long-time member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and volunteered at St. Vincent DePaul.
Terry was lucky enough to find love again and on August 14, 1998, was united in marriage to Patricia A. Flanagan who preceded him in death on January 29, 2023. Terry and Pat enjoyed many years together getting their fill of traveling throughout Europe, Canada, and the United States, and spending some winter months in Florida and Arizona.
Terry will be missed by his stepdaughters Candace (Jim) Vasey, Ellen (Phil) Cruz, grandchildren Callie Rose Vasey, Sarah Pat (Mike) Rothering and Max J. Cruz (fiancé, Yone Vaz), great grandchildren Ezra Chandler Bump and Liam and Ellah Rothering.
Terry will be dearly missed by nieces and nephews: Sandy (Bob) Hansen, Terry (Jan) Haas, Mitch (Jody) Haas, Joe Haas (Thi Le), Chris (Herman) Krause and Barbara Brooks (Gary Sonnenburg); Danny Deschler, Mary (Gary) Redfern, Elizabeth Long, Kim Reitsma, Tom (Linda) O’Day, Patrick O’Day, Micheal O’Day, Brian O’Day, Mary Claire (Gary) Brownell, Tom (Pattie) Flanagan, Jim (Ruth) Flanagan, Suzy (Stu) VanSwol, Steve (Kim) Banker, and many great nieces and nephews and extended family.
In addition to his parents and wives he was preceded in death by his brothers, Ralph (Mary) Haas and Philip Haas, sisters-in-law Kathleen Deschler and Eileen O’Day, brother-in-law Danny (Grace) Flanagan, brother-in-law Gilly O’Day, niece Connie Farr, nephews Tim and Jim Deschler and Gary Reitsma.
A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Terry’s life will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday May 1, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1533 Erie St. with Rev. Michael Petersen officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Family Cemetery. Relatives and friends are welcome to meet with the family for Visitation, Thursday at 10:00 am until time of Mass at the church. Memorials to St. Joseph Catholic Church or to St. Vincent DePaul have been suggested by the family.
