Life Story / Obituary
Thomas Helbling, “Tom”, age 68, passed away Friday night , October 18, 2013, in his home with his family by his side. He was born in Santa Ana, CA, August 6, 1945 son of the late Clement and Frances Helbling.
Tom attended St. Catherine’s High School and Wm Horlick High School. Shortly after, he enlisted in the United States Navy proudly serving in the Vietnam War. He worked in construction for 30 years with various companies and was last employed at R&B Grinding driving forklift. Tom was an avid Cubs Fan who enjoyed going to Wrigley Field. His favorite hobbies were fishing and going up north. He loved spending time with his grandsons. He was a loving husband and father who would lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He will be greatly missed.
Surviving are his wife of 32 years, Sally; daughter, Vanessa; grandsons, Jaden and Neeno; brothers, Danny (Karin), Phil (Diana), and Paul Helbling; sisters, Pat (Bobby) Richards, Donna (Dale) Fletcher, Susie (Greg) Kobs, Eileen (Ric) Sertuche; mother-in-law, Seledonia Ynocencio; many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews too many to mention, cousins and friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by father-in-law, Feliciano Ynocencio, Sr; brothers-in-law, Sostenes, Eugene, Feliciano Jr., and Ismael Ynocencio, and sister-in-law, Mary Helbling.
On Thursday, October 24, 2013, relatives and friends may meet with the family at St. Rita’s Catholic Church, 4339 Douglas Ave, 3:30 P.M. until 5:30 P.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 5:30 P.M. with Rev. Kevin Mullins OSA officiating. Private interment with Full Military Honors will take place at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Town of Dover. Memorials to the family would be appreciated.
A special thank you to Gary and Dorie, Steve and April and Jeff Helbling for always being there with continued friendship, love, and support especially during this time.
